Horst wittur, the founder of witturr Group, was born on May 29, 1942 in the city of Plzeň, Czechoslovakia. Vitor joined the elevator industry in 1962, working in construction for the Danzer company in Munich, and soon became vice president and deputy managing director.
In those years, Horst wittur noticed the gap in the elevator parts market in Germany and realized that German suppliers could not meet the demand of elevator companies in the supply of elevator parts. Horst wittur founded wittur in 1968 when he was only 26 years old and continued to cooperate with Italian suppliers of elevator parts and entered the elevator door business from Italy.

In 1969, Horst wittur started a factory for the manufacture of hinged elevator doors. In 1972, the factory was moved to the Miesburg area near Munich. A larger factory that had 500 square meters of warehouse and 70 square meters of office space. At first, the activity of Vitor company focused on the production of elevator doors as well as trade with parts of different brands of the elevator industry.
However, during the merger of the company and the presence of the investor, the trade with products of other brands was replaced by the sale of Vitor manufactured parts. Vitor Group’s international expansion started very early with the establishment of the Selcom door factory.

In 1977, Selcom S.p.A (today wittur S.p.A) door manufacturing plant was established in the selcom district of Parma, Italy, followed by Selcom Aragon (today wittur Elevator Components S.A.U) in Zaragoza, Spain in 1980.

1993 was the starting point of Vitor Türkiye collection. In this year, wittur purchased Asfen Group of Turkey (wittur Asansör Sanayi Ve Ticaret Ltd Sirketi) in Istanbul, a group that currently manufactures Cellcom doors for the European market. After Turkey, it was Italy’s turn to take over Omar Lift elevator company today (wittur Hydraulic Drives S.r.l.), a manufacturer of hydraulic elevator systems in Bergamo, Italy. A company that left Vitor Group 20 years later in 2013 and is independently producing and supplying hydraulic systems.

In 1995, in order to increase production and increase its share of the elevator door market in the Asian continent, wittur Group opened Suzhou Selcom (today wittur Elevator Components Suzhou) in Suzhou city. Over the following years, Cellcom China’s door factory grew steadily larger, and today more than 700,000 Cellcom doors are produced annually.
In order to expand its activity in the market of elevator parts, wittur Group added the production and supply of wittur gearless motor to its products by purchasing System Antriebstechnik Dresden GmbH (today wittur Electric Drives GmbH) in Dresden, Germany, in 1997.

In the same year Vitor bought the Kone elevator door and elevator cabin factory, located in the state of Kansas, USA, and within 4 years began to produce Celcom doors to be present in the American market, but in 2004 the American Celcom door factory declared bankruptcy and was sold to English capitalist John Mann. Vitor’s development of Celcom’s door manufacturing plants took place in 2009 in Kruppina, Slovakia, and in 2010 in Chennai, India.

In the spring of 2010, Horst wittur, the founder of wittur Group, died on February 6 at the age of 67 after a long illness. During many years, Horst wittur provided valuable services to the elevator industry of the world as a director and one of the shareholders of wittur Group, as well as as a consultant and vice president of the European Elevator Components Association (ELCA).

Sematic Group, as one of the oldest manufacturers and leading suppliers of elevator parts in the world, was founded in 1959 by Francesco Zappa in Italy.
